Cancel, refund, or fix any Norton issue

There are two different things people mean by "cancel" — turning off future charges, and ending the subscription now.

Turn off auto-renewal

1. Sign in at my.norton.com.
2. On the My Account page, find your subscription.
3. Click Cancel Subscription Renewal or Manage Renewal.
4. Next to Plan Renewal, click Unsubscribe.
5. Select a reason and click Next.
6. If you still want to cancel, click No thanks, cancel my subscription.

Cancel immediately

Call support and ask for full cancellation. If you're inside the refund window, request the refund in the same call.

Norton offers a 60-day money-back guarantee on annual subscriptions purchased directly from Norton. Monthly subscriptions have a 30-day window.

Are you eligible?

• Annual subscription: refund within 60 days of purchase or renewal.
• Monthly subscription: refund within 30 days of purchase.
• Purchases from third parties: contact the retailer you bought from.
• Renewal charges: refundable within 60 days of the renewal date.

How to request it

1. Sign in at my.norton.com.
2. Go to My Subscriptions.
3. Select the subscription and look for refund options.
4. Or call support and request it directly.

Nine times out of ten, a surprise Norton charge is an auto-renewal you forgot about.

Update your card or billing address

1. Sign in at my.norton.com.
2. Select Account, then My Profile.
3. In the Billing Information section, click Update.
4. Enter the new card details and address, then click Save.

Review past charges

1. Sign in and open My Account → Subscriptions.
2. Click View active for current plans.
3. Click All expired for older subscriptions.

Most login failures are a password issue, browser cache, or a sign-in loop caused by a date/time mismatch.

Reset your password

1. Go to the Norton sign-in page.
2. Click Forgot password.
3. Enter your registered email and click Continue.
4. Check your inbox for the reset link and create a new password.

Sign-in loop fix

• Check your device's date and time. Incorrect time is a common cause of sign-in loops.
• Clear browser cache and cookies for Norton.com.
• Restart your device and network.
• Try a different browser.

If your email isn't recognised

• You may have registered under a different address. Try older or work emails.
• If Norton came pre-installed on a Dell or OEM machine, the registered email may differ.

Use this when Norton won't open, is using huge amounts of CPU, or won't update.

Standard uninstall (Windows)

1. Press Windows key + R to open the Run box.
2. Type appwiz.cpl and press Enter.
3. Find Norton, right-click it, and choose Uninstall.
4. Follow the prompts, then restart your PC.

If the standard uninstall fails — use Norton Remove and Reinstall

1. Download the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool from the official Norton website.
2. Right-click the file and choose Run as administrator.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Restart your PC when it finishes.

Run these in order — most people are fixed by step 3.

1. Restart your computer. A full restart, not shutdown.
2. Run LiveUpdate inside the Norton app to get the latest patches.
3. Disable Norton VPN temporarily if the app is crashing.
4. Check for conflicting antivirus software. Only one should be active.
5. Reinstall Norton using the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool above.
