Cancel, refund, or fix any McAfee issue

There are two different things people mean by "cancel" — turning off future charges, and ending the subscription now.

Turn off auto-renewal

1. Sign in at home.mcafee.com.
2. Select Account at the top of your My Account page.
3. Click Auto-Renewal Settings.
4. Follow the on-screen steps to switch auto-renew off.

Cancel immediately

Call support and ask for full cancellation. If you're inside the refund window, request the refund in the same call.

Are you eligible?

• Initial purchase: refund within 30 days.
• Auto-renewal charge: refund within 60 days.
• Monthly plans: the guarantee does not apply.
• Prorated refunds: not offered.

How to request it

1. Sign in at home.mcafee.com.
2. Click Manage Subscriptions.
3. Pick the subscription and click Cancel/Refund.
4. Or call support and request it directly.

Nine times out of ten, a surprise McAfee charge is an auto-renewal you forgot about.

Update your card or billing address

1. Sign in at home.mcafee.com.
2. Select Account, then My Profile.
3. In the Billing Information section, click Update.
4. Enter the new card details and address, then click Save.

Review past charges

1. Sign in and open My Account → Subscriptions.
2. Click View active for current plans.
3. Click All expired for older subscriptions.

Most login failures are a password issue or an email mismatch.

Reset your password

1. Go to myaccount.mcafee.com.
2. Click Forgot password.
3. Enter your registered email and click Continue.
4. Enter the one-time passcode and click Continue.
5. Set a new password and click Reset password.

If your email isn't recognised

• You may have registered under a different address. Try older or work emails.
• If McAfee came pre-installed on a Dell or OEM machine, the registered email may differ.

Use this when McAfee won't open, is using huge amounts of CPU, or won't update.

Standard uninstall (Windows)

1. Press Windows key + R to open the Run box.
2. Type appwiz.cpl and press Enter.
3. Find McAfee, right-click it, and choose Uninstall.
4. Follow the prompts, then restart your PC.

If the standard uninstall fails — use MCPR

1. Download MCPR from the official McAfee website.
2. Right-click the file and choose Run as administrator.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Restart your PC when it finishes.

Run these in order — most people are fixed by step 3.

1. Restart your computer.
2. Check for product updates inside the McAfee app.
3. Run the McAfee Virtual Technician.
4. Check for conflicting antivirus software.
5. Reinstall McAfee using the MCPR method above.
